Ukraine president Zelensky dismissed his ambassadors to five countries, including Germany. According to president Zelensky, “rotation is a normal part of diplomatic practice”. Since the start of the war, Ukraine’s relations with Germany soured as the former continuously asked for more aid from the latter. Besides, Germany remains heavily dependent on Russian energy. President Zelensky asked Germany to halt or severely curtail its natural gas flows through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline as Ukraine can provide alternative supply routes. Nonetheless, the market expects the Nord Stream 1 pipeline, currently undergoing maintenance, will be closed by president Putin.
