According to the World Bank, Vietnam should spend $370bln through 2040 to mitigate and adapt to climate change. The nation, with a population of about 100mln, is one of the world’s most vulnerable countries to extreme weather events and rising sea levels. The analysis revealed that if Vietnam does not take proper adaption measures, by investing about 6.8% of its annual GDP, climate change could cost the country as much as 14.5% of its GDP by 2050.
