Trade in goods between the US and China climbed to a record in 2022, keeping both economies connected despite their governments’ efforts to forge separate paths amid a range of geopolitical tensions. Total merchandise between the two countries rose to UD 690.6 bln last year, while the US annual goods-trade deficit with China widened to 8%, the biggest on record after the shortfall in 2018.
