Deliveries of Russian military supplies to India have stopped due to difficulty finding a payment mechanism that does not violate US sanctions, according to Indian officials. India owes more than USD 2 bln for weapons purchases. Additionally, Russia halted credit for a pipeline of about USD 10 bln worth of spare parts and two undelivered S-400 missile defense system batteries. India cannot pay in USD due to concerns about secondary sanctions, while Russia does not want to accept rupees due to exchange rate volatility.
