Pakistan’s PM, Shehbaz Sharif, won a parliamentary confidence vote despite an impasse with the country’s top court over provincial polls. Former PM Imran Khan dissolved two provincial assemblies in January to pressure the government to hold early national elections. Sharif noted that the country should focus on its economic and security challenges. Pakistan’s government is facing difficulties securing a USD 6.5 bln bailout from the IMF while battling a resurgence of militant attacks.
