DR Congo

Over 270 people have died, and around 300 are missing due to flooding in the eastern DR Congo. Heavy rainfall since Friday caused rivers to flood and landslides, destroying thousands of homes. The area already hosts thousands displaced by conflict in nearby North Kivu. Severe rains caused hundreds of deaths, including at least 129 in Rwanda and many in Uganda. Congo’s president Felix Tshisekedi declared a national day of mourning for the victims.
