China will dispatch a special envoy to Kyiv in Ukraine today, signifying the first high-level visit from the Chinese government since the invasion began. Li Hui, China’s envoy for Eurasian Affairs, will also travel to Poland, France, Germany, and Russia. This appointment came after Chinese president Jinping’s first call to Ukraine’s Zelensky since the war’s onset. Meanwhile, it appears that the grain deal will collapse unless Russia receives assurances regarding its demands by May 18th.
