Ukrainian prosecutors have detained the head of the Supreme Court, Vsevolod Knyazev, following an investigation that unveiled extensive corruption within the top judicial body. Knyazev is suspected of accepting a bribe of USD 2.7 mln. Another unnamed official is also in custody, though charges have not been filed against either individual. Amid efforts to expel Russian forces and appeal for membership in the EU and NATO, president Zelensky’s government is under mounting pressure to eradicate corruption.
