At the Qatar Economic Forum, Hungarian PM Viktor Orban defended his choice to withhold aid to Ukraine, arguing that the country stands no chance of victory in the war. While acknowledging the tragedy, Orban maintained that providing aid would result in additional loss of life, which he could not endorse. Hungary, the EU nation closest to Russian president Putin, is blocking a EUR 500 mln tranche of EU financial assistance to Ukraine and opposing new sanctions against Russia.
