Malawi president, Lazarus Chakwera, will meet with Chinese and other creditors to discuss the country’s USD 2.61 bln debt. This meeting comes as Malawi seeks additional IMF funding. The country’s debts include USD 218 mln to the Export-Import Bank of China, USD 144.1 mln to Afreximbank, and USD 1.2 bln to the International Development Association (IDA). Meanwhile, the IMF has deemed Malawi’s performance under its program as “mixed”.
