Angola ruling party, MPLA, is contemplating the removal of costly fuel subsidies, a move that could lead to a surge in fuel prices. Last year, Angola expended USD 3.5 bln on fuel subsidies due to its insufficient refining capacity. Other prominent African oil producers, such as Nigeria and Kenya, have recently eliminated their subsidies.
