Bolivia reported a trade deficit of USD 134 mln in the first four months of this year, compared to a USD 1.1 bln surplus reported during the same period a year earlier. Exports declined to USD 3.6 bln, marking a 22% drop compared to the same period in 2022. On the other hand, imports increased slightly by 7% to USD 3.7 bln. Fuel imports amounted to USD 1 bln, while hydrocarbon exports stood at USD 753 mln. President Luis Arce remained optimistic, citing the rebound in exports and the newly initiated electricity export to neighboring Argentina as positive indicators for the country’s economy.
