The World Bank’s board is expected to approve loans for Sri Lanka by the end of this month. These loans include support for a welfare benefit program. Sri Lanka intends to distribute an annual sum of 208 bln rupees through a revised social security system to support 2.3 mln beneficiaries. Furthermore, Sri Lanka expects to receive USD 350 mln in budgetary support from the World Bank. These initiatives are part of the conditions stipulated for Sri Lanka’s USD 3 bln bailout from the IMF.
