Colombia’s trade deficit widened to USD 1.2 bln in April, up from USD 0.9 bln in the same month of the previous year. This escalation resulted from a steep 31.5% drop in exports, the sharpest decline since May 2020, mainly due to a fall in crude shipments. Meanwhile, imports experienced a 22.7% dip, marking the sixth consecutive month of decline and the steepest since September 2020, primarily due to reduced purchases of manufactured products and coke and refined petroleum products.
