Uzbekistan

Early presidential voting began in Uzbekistan on Wednesday, ahead of the official July 9 election. In April, a national referendum took place in which a new draft of the constitution proposed extending the presidential term from five to seven years and allowing incumbent president Shavkat Mirziyoyev to seek reelection after completing two consecutive terms. Currently, there are five political parties in Uzbekistan. President Mirziyoyev was nominated by the Uzbekistan Liberal Democratic Party and also has the support of the Milliy Tiklanish (National Revival) Democratic Party.
