Botswana

Sales of rough diamonds by Botswana’s Debswana, a unit of De Beers, declined to 28.6 bln pula in the first half of 2023, compared to 31 bln pula the previous year. The nation’s finance ministry noted that lower diamond demand and output risks have increased due to weak global demand prospects. Diamond sales generate over a third of government revenue and most of the country’s foreign currency receipts.
