Ukraine’s agricultural sector experienced a significant downturn in July 2023, recording its lowest levels in a year. Export quantities plummeted to a mere 3.39 mln tons, marking a 31% drop compared to the prior month, mainly driven by Russia’s withdrawal from the grain agreement. As a direct consequence of this exit, there was a notable shift in Ukraine’s export logistics, with the proportion of land-based transport for total exports escalating by 26%. In light of these challenges, Poland has urged the European Union to enhance port capacities, which would enable increased Ukrainian grain shipments via the Baltic Sea.
