Tobacco sales in Malawi, a main contributor to its foreign exchange, rose to USD 282 mln this season, compared to last year’s USD 182 mln. Nevertheless, the revenue generated this season is still less than figures from previous years, which surpassed USD 350 mln. Despite the decline in tobacco revenues in recent years causing imported goods shortages, the current sales and average price per kilogram of tobacco have both seen an uptick.
