Egypt reported that the latest round of talks on Ethiopia’s Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam ended without a breakthrough. The discussions, the first in more than a year, failed to secure a binding agreement for the dam’s operation. Egypt and Sudan, which rely heavily on the Nile for freshwater, have criticized Ethiopia for unilateral actions concerning the dam. Further talks are planned for September.
