Bangladesh’s trade deficit declined by 69.73% YoY to USD 635 mln in July, as import payments dropped by 14.92%, while export earnings rose by 15.61%. Last fiscal year, Bangladesh’s trade deficit dipped by 48.41% to USD 17.16 bln amid dwindling FX reserves. The country’s central bank has implemented various measures to revitalize FX reserves, which stood at USD 29.23 bln at the end of last month, including discouraging imports.
