In the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region, Azerbaijan launched a new military operation against an Armenian enclave within its territory. The situation has already escalated, with 25 people reported dead. Later in the day, the Azeri side announced the readiness of the Azerbaijani side to meet with representatives of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh in the city of Yevlakh, provided that the “illegal Armenian armed groups” lay down their arms. The EU responded by asking Azerbaijan to stop its military activities. France requested an urgent meeting with the UN Security Council, while the US Secretary of State spoke with Armenian PM Pashinyan, and Russia called for a halt to the fighting. Armenia’s USD bonds due in 2029 and 2031 dropped by about 1.2 cents on the USD each.
