Indonesia’s central bank Governor, Perry Warjiyo, emphasized that the rupiah’s current vulnerability is crucial in maintaining the monetary policy and keeping the benchmark rate at its four-year peak. The central bank held its key rate at 5.75%, given the rupiah’s nearly 1% depreciation and foreign outflows totaling USD 760.5 mln. Nonetheless, the bank introduced new rupiah securities (SRBI), raising 38 tln rupiah in its first two auctions.
