Botswana

Botswana’s economy grew by 3.4% YoY in Q2 2023, marking the smallest growth since Q1 2021 and following an upward revision of the previous quarter’s growth to 5.5%. The financial sector, including insurance and pension funding, alongside mining, especially from copper and diamonds, was pivotal in driving this growth. In contrast, sharp declines were seen in utilities and diamond trading. The GDP experienced a 3.5% reduction in QoQ, the steepest in three years, contrasting with the revised 5.7% growth of the prior quarter.
