Nigeria

Nigeria unveiled a temporary wage boost of 25,000 naira per month for low-grade workers to soften reform impacts and avoid an impending strike. Alongside this, the government aims to slash transport costs by using buses powered by affordable compressed natural gas and intends to assist small businesses. Additionally, there’s a plan to enlarge the cash transfer register to aid vulnerable Nigerians, adding 15 million households. However, removing a USD 10 bln annual fuel subsidy and FX market liberalization contributed to a 40% fall in the naira and rising inflation.
