Moldova has commenced the construction of a new power line that will connect its capital, Chisinau, to Romania, aiming to lessen its reliance on Russian energy. Presently, Moldova receives about 70% of its electricity from Transnistria, where Russian-backed separatists have previously interrupted energy supplies to Chisinau.
