Senegal’s President Bassirou Diomaye Faye is considering calling fresh parliamentary elections to gain a majority needed to implement reforms. This follows his directive for an extraordinary parliamentary session and his dismissal of heads of two key councils in efforts to eliminate corruption and reduce public spending, potentially saving USD 25 mln annually.
