Guatemala’s GDP grew by 3.7% YoY in Q2 2024, up from 3.2% in Q1. The country posted a current account surplus of USD 1.19 bln, slightly lower than the USD 1.203 bln surplus in the same quarter of 2023. The trade balance deficit widened to USD 3.851 bln due to a 7.9% increase in imports, which outpaced a 5.1% rise in exports. Remittances continued to bolster the secondary income account, which saw a 6.8% increase, reaching USD 5.869 bln.
