Malawi’s budget for the year ending in March has been increased to 6.04 tln kwacha from 5.99 tln due to more international grants. The budget deficit narrowed to 1.41 tln kwacha, or 7.5% of GDP, down from 1.45 tln kwacha, or 7.7%. The government will finance the gap through local borrowing. GDP growth for 2024 has been revised to 1.8% from 2.3% due to poor agricultural output from bad weather.
