US President-elect Donald Trump met with Ukraine’s Zelensky and French President Macron. Macron had sought to engineer the talks to initiate a discussion on how to end the war in Ukraine. Almost three years after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Zelensky and his allies are anxiously watching Trump for signs of how he plans to approach the conflict. The main concern is that the next US administration might roll back support for Ukraine to pressure Zelenskiy to compromise. For now, support is still forthcoming, as the US committed to USD 988 mln in new military assistance.
