Russia increased oil exports to Uzbekistan via the pipeline passing through Kazakhstan by over 70% in January-October 2024. Uzbekistan was forced to import natural gas because its production has fallen in recent years and is no longer enough to meet domestic demand. Given the growing population and the country’s economy, the Uzbek government plans to triple its imports of Russian natural gas in the coming years.
