Uganda’s finance ministry has suspended nine employees from the Accountant General’s Office after they were accused of diverting 60 bln shillings (USD 54 mln) meant for repaying foreign debt. The funds, originally intended for the World Bank and the African Development Fund, were redirected to other recipients in September. The Bank of Uganda recovered USD 14.7 mln of the missing amount.
