Egypt has put forward a new proposal to restore the Gaza ceasefire, aiming for Hamas to release five Israeli hostages each week. This comes after a resurgence in violence, with Israeli strikes killing at least 65 people in Gaza in the past 24 hours. The plan, which was agreed to by the US and Hamas, awaits Israel’s response. Currently, Hamas holds 59 hostages, 24 of whom are believed to still be alive.
