Armenia’s parliament has passed a bill that calls on the government to initiate the process of EU accession. PM Pashinyan backed the bill, but called for a national referendum. Russian officials have warned that Armenia could lose tariff-free trade with Moscow, and also face higher Russian gas prices, if Armenia joins the EU.
