India has raised taxes on diesel and gasoline to shore up revenue, though retail fuel prices will remain unchanged as refiners absorb the tax hike. The government expects to collect over 300 bln rupees from the increase, which will fund export incentives and other measures to encourage domestic production. Additionally, LPG prices will rise by 50 rupees per 14.2-kilogram bottle. Retail fuel prices have remained unchanged since March 2024, despite the global drop in oil prices.
