Afghanistan and China’s CAPEIC signed a resource deal worth USD 150 mln in 2023, expected to scale to USD 540 mln by 2026, targeting oil extraction in Amu Darya and copper mining; the deal could create up to 3,000 jobs, while China has also lifted tariffs on Afghan exports as part of broader LDC support.
