Bangladesh

Bangladesh’s cabinet has approved the New Development Bank (NDB) Act, thus making it easier for the country to receive funds from the BRICS lending arm. An unnamed official stated that Bangladesh expects to receive USD 800 mln from the NDB for two projects: a gas pipeline between Dhaka and Narayanganj and a water supply initiative in Mohammadpur’s Basila. The NDB started expanding its membership in 2021 to include countries like Bangladesh, the UAE, Uruguay, and Egypt as it moves towards becoming a global multilateral development bank.
