India

JPMorgan will integrate Indian government bonds into its benchmark emerging-market index. This move signals India’s rising allure for global investors. Several initiatives, like Apple Inc.’s pursuit of alternatives to China, highlight India’s escalating appeal. The JPMorgan Government Bond Index-Emerging Markets will include Indian securities from June 28, 2024, with India holding up to 10% weight. That comes with India’s introduction of foreign-owned bonds in 2020 and measures to facilitate foreign portfolio investments.
