Malaysia economy grew by 5.6% YoY in the first quarter of 2023, surpassing market predictions of 4.8% but slowing from a revised 7.1% growth in the previous quarter. The economy expanded for the sixth consecutive quarter but at the slowest pace since Q1 of 2022, driven by domestic demand. Despite this, the GDP is projected to grow between 4.0% to 5.0% in 2023, primarily driven by robust domestic demand.
