Pakistan

Pakistan has agreed to implement changes in its upcoming budget to address concerns from the IMF about its tax system. These changes, including new taxes and an expected revenue increase of 215 bln rupees (USD 750 mln), were settled last week with IMF officials. Pakistan anticipates securing a minimum of USD 1.1 bln in funding from the IMF before the program ends on June 30. Over the past year, the government has increased taxes and fuel prices and allowed greater freedom for the foreign exchange rate.
