The Philippines plans another resupply mission to the BRP Sierra Madre, a WWII-era ship at the Ayungin Shoal, central to a territorial dispute with China. Previously, China attempted to block a resupply operation using water cannons. Despite China’s demands for the Philippines to tow the military vessel away, Philippine president Marcos Jr. asserted they won’t remove the ship. Manila stationed it at the shoal in 1999, following China’s occupation of the nearby Mischief Reef.
