Sri Lanka’s annual inflation rate decreased to 12.0% in June, down from 25.2% in the previous month, marking the lowest inflation rate since November 2021. Consumer prices remained stable in June, showing no growth from the prior month. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka posted a current account surplus of USD 644 mln in Q1 2023, a significant improvement from a deficit of USD 1.3 bln in the same period the previous year. That was due to an expansion in secondary income and a decrease in the goods account deficit, despite a slight increase in the shortfall in primary income.
