Sri Lanka’s trade gap widened to USD 447 mln in May from USD 403 mln in the same month last year as imports rose and exports fell. Imports increased to a nine-month high of USD 1.47 bln, while exports shrank 2.7% YoY to USD 1.02 bln. However, the country’s trade deficit for the first five months of the year narrowed to USD 1.9 bln from USD 3.5 billion recorded in the same period of 2022.
