Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka’s annual inflation rate fell dramatically to 0.5% in August, down from 2.4% in July, the lowest since the country declared bankruptcy in April 2022. This significant reduction reflects the easing of the economic crisis that had caused severe shortages of food, fuel, and medicine. The improvement in inflation comes as Sri Lanka prepares for its first elections since the economic turmoil began.
