US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer emphasized to Vietnam’s top trade official that Vietnam needs to improve its trade balance with the US and further open up its markets. Vietnam announced deals worth USD 4.15 bln with US companies and is considering removing trade barriers and cracking down on export fraud to improve trade relations. The US had a USD 123.5 bln trade deficit with Vietnam in 2024. Vietnam is seeking to be recognized as a market economy to bolster its exports to the US.
