Vietnam is facing an estimated USD 90 bln in cryptocurrency transactions, with experts calling for a regulatory framework to prevent criminal exploitation. According to a report from blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis, from October 2021 to October 2022, USD 90.8 bln in cryptocurrency inflows were recorded, with nearly USD 1 bln linked to illegal activities like fraud and money laundering. Vietnam lacks specific regulations for cryptocurrencies and exchanges, leaving a legal gap that could be exploited by illicit actors.
