Armenia

Armenia has formally requested the UN Security Council to convene an emergency session addressing the worsening humanitarian crisis in Azerbaijan’s largely Armenian-inhabited separatist region of Nagorno-Karabakh. Armenian authorities and the separatist leadership in Nagorno-Karabakh stated that Azerbaijan enforced a blockade on the region since December, which led to acute shortages of essential items, including food, medical supplies, and energy. Reports from July 30 indicate that Armenian vehicles transporting humanitarian aid for Nagorno-Karabakh are stranded in proximity to an Azeri checkpoint at the entrance of the Lachin Corridor.
