Azerbaijan has offered Pakistan over USD 1 bln in a loan to fund the USD 1.2 b;n Sukkur-Hyderabad motorway project. This offer came after PM Sharif requested funding for two infrastructure projects during a visit to Azerbaijan. However, Pakistan’s Finance Ministry expressed concerns about routing the loan through a cash deposit instead of borrowing directly from Azerbaijan. The country has been struggling to secure new foreign investment due to political and economic instability.
