Despite a downward trend, Angola Current Account balance saw a surplus equivalent to 1.8% of GDP in Q1 2023. Compared to Q4 2022, the current account rose to USD 507.0 million from USD 356.7 mln. Export revenues, however, fell by 1.6 million USD. The Capital and Financial Account registered a deficit of 1.4 million USD, a marked contrast to the previous quarter’s surplus, due primarily to a worsening balance of the external public debt. A slight deficit worsening was also seen in the net international investment position in Q1 2023.
