Argentine economy minister Sergio Massa declared the IMF’s expected fund disbursement to the government in August and November, following a staff-level agreement on a USD 44 bln financing program. As the nation owes USD 2.6 bln to the IMF by the end of this month, it is unclear how officials will service this obligation. With the Argentine peso depreciating 34% this year, 2030-due sovereign bonds have risen to around 34 cents on the USD amid anticipation of an IMF agreement overhaul and a more market-friendly administration coming into power in the October elections.
