The European Court of Human Rights has ordered Russia to pay EUR 130 mln to Georgia as compensation for the crimes committed during the war between the two countries fifteen years ago in South Ossetia and Abkhazia. The court ruled that Russia violated six articles of the European Convention on Human Rights against Georgian citizens, including the right to life, torture, burning, and destruction of private property.
